Art has been utilized as a method of communication for thousands of years. In more recent years art has been understood to be not just a form of communication, but a portal to the unconscious. Using art and combining it with therapeutic modalities such as psychodynamic frameworks, mindfulness, CBT based frameworks, DBT based frameworks, etc., one can garner a greater sense of self, a greater sense of awareness and perhaps work towards a journey of self discovery.
Art & Therapy works with the individual and assists them in their own personal goals. Whether in group therapy format, expressive arts groups, individual therapy, or even in mindfulness awareness classes; the individual needs are emphasized as each person has their own journey that is meaningful to them.
